The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation is excited to announce the inaugural Reeve Summit 2020: Where Care, Cure and Community Connect. The Reeve Summit will be a three-day gathering held at the Marriott Marquis, Washington, D.C., from February 26-28, 2020. Registration opens December 5, 2019.

2020 marks the 25th anniversary of Christopher Reeve’s spinal cord injury, and this event is a unique opportunity to bring together the paralysis community, key thought leaders, and individuals who have had an extraordinary impact on the lives of people with paralysis and related disabilities.

The Summit will kick off with a welcome reception and entertainment on Wednesday evening, February 26, followed by two days of notable keynote speakers and educational panels. Confirmed speakers include Senator Tom Harkin (Ret.), founder of Harkin Institute, and former United States Senator from Iowa, who will provide keynote remarks on the upcoming 30th anniversary of the ADA next July. We’ll also be joined by Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts on Friday morning, as well as other leaders who foster collaboration, independence, health promotion and innovation.

The Reeve Summit will touch on topics and themes relevant to the paralysis community and give everyone a chance to hear from experts, ask questions and share experiences on many aspects of life.

  • Advocacy – This conversation will have experts discussing the power of advocacy, for oneself, loved ones and creating movements.
  • Caregiving – Finding the right personal care attendant for your needs and one on one meet-ups with other caregivers.
  • Employment – Understanding government benefits versus employment benefits, how to ask for accommodations from your employer, and other tools to help find a job.
  • Health & Wellness – Reviewing critical situations to look out for, women’s health, intimacy and relationships, and how to take time for yourself.
  • Research – An explanation of the Reeve Foundation’s approach to research, what is changing in 2020, and promising new treatments for individuals living with paralysis will be discussed.

We hope you will be able to join us!
