UAB-SCIMS Study Participant Request

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Spinal Cord Injury Model System (UAB-SCIMS) is seeking women with spinal cord injury who are pregnant or have given birth in the last 3 years to participate in a research study.
Purpose of the Study
This study aims to compare pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum outcomes of women with and without a spinal cord injury to better understand:
- potential difficulties women with spinal cord injury experience.
- educational and emotional support needs of women with spinal cord injury.
Criteria to Participate
- Women with spinal cord injury who are at least 1 year post-injury
- At least 19 years old
- Pregnant or have given birth within the last 3 years
Participant Activities
- Women who are pregnant will agree to have their medical records reviewed and participate in 3 phone or in-person interviews about their experiences during pregnancy.
- Women who have given birth in the last 3 years will agree to have their medical records reviewed.
Incentives to Participate
Participants will receive up to $200.
