Legislation to improve rehabilitation research

In 2015, bipartisan Members of Congress introduced legislation to improve coordination of rehabilitation research across NIH Institutes and Centers. The bill sought to improve, coordinate, and enhance rehabilitation research at the NIH; specific to our community, it would assist people with disabilities, illnesses, and chronic medical conditions by maximizing their health, ability to function, live independently and participate fully in in community activities.

Recent action

Unfortunately, the 114th Congress adjourned without finalizing action on the bill. The Reeve Foundation and our partners in the disability community are continuing to ask Members of Congress to reintroduce the legislation, and will be working with our advocates to support the legislation in the coming months.
