Why did you become a peer mentor? It is very rewarding to show someone what they can accomplish in their post-SCI life and how to navigate the everyday challenges that come with the injury. The newly injured person doesn’t know what to expect in their new reality when it comes to working, socializing, or their health. When you model a rich and fulfilling life, those just beginning this journey have a goal to strive towards. They see what is possible and approach their post-injury life with a positive attitude.
