Bipartisan Congressional Deal Would Preserve Support for Paralysis Resource Center in Final FY26 Funding

January 21, 2026

Bipartisan, bicameral bills released by House and Senate Appropriations Committees would continue full federal support for the National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC) in Fiscal Year 2026. The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation calls on members of the House and Senate to pass this important legislation before the January 30th deadline, safeguarding this essential national resource for people living with paralysis and their caregivers.

The NPRC is more than a program; it is a lifeline for individuals and families navigating the realities of paralysis. From peer-to-peer mentoring and direct support services to nationwide connections with critical resources, the NPRC empowers people to live with dignity, independence, and hope.

Since its establishment in 2002, the NPRC has delivered comprehensive, no-cost information and services that have helped Americans navigate life with paralysis at every stage, from initial diagnosis to aging in place. It also administers the Quality of Life grants program, which extends vital support into communities nationwide and advances independence for people living with paralysis. The NPRC’s unique role and cost-effective impact have earned it consistent congressional support.

Now is not the time to slow down. We urge members of the House and Senate to come together, finalize appropriations before the deadline, and fully fund the PRC at no less than $10.7 million so that this indispensable resource can continue its work without interruption.

The Reeve Foundation staunchly supports the paralysis community in advocating for stable, sufficient federal investments that promote health, independence, and quality of life. Funding the NPRC is not only a matter of public policy but a commitment to the well-being of millions of Americans living with paralysis and their families.
