This Win is Thanks to You, Our Advocates: Spending Bill Passes with Full Support for NPRC
February 3, 2026
Thanks to the work of our advocates, Regional Champions, and supporters, today Congress passed a bipartisan package of spending bills that includes the full FY2026 funding of $10.7 million for the National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC). The bill is now awaiting the President’s signature, which is expected swiftly. The legislation was signed into law by the President today.
The NPRC is more than a program; it is a lifeline for individuals and families navigating the realities of paralysis. From peer-to-peer mentoring and direct support services to nationwide connections with critical resources, the NPRC empowers people to live with dignity, independence, and hope.
This funding bill also includes:
- An increase of approximately $415 million in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding
- $119 million for National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDLRR) funding
- $33 million in restored funding for the Spinal Cord Injury Research Program
- Extension of Telehealth Medicare access through December 31, 2027
Your voices and actions made a difference, and your ongoing support will be critical as we continue to advocate for paralysis research, access to care, and quality and affordable treatments for all. In partnership with disability coalitions, the Reeve Foundation is also committed to ensuring the protection of laws and policies that protect the rights of people living with disabilities.
