Regional Advocacy Training

Tuesday, April 7, 2026 1 – 3:30 PM CT (Session will begin promptly at 2PM)
Heritage Place
2829 S. MacArthur Blvd.
Oklahoma City, OK 73128
The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), and Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) are collaborating to bring a Regional Advocacy Training to your community.
This Regional Advocacy Training will deliver vital information, provide access to resources, and create meaningful connections in areas where knowledge about paralysis, muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular conditions may be limited. Together, these organizations support individuals with disabilities, veterans, families, and caregivers through advocacy, education, and free programs.
This event will feature a presentation combined with discussion opportunities, designed to empower individuals, families, caregivers, and veterans to learn, share, and use their own voice to take action.
Training Topics:
- Introduction to the Organizations and Resources: Learn about the missions of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, MDA, and PVA, and the communities they serve. Attendees will gain information on free resources and services, including the Reeve Foundation’s National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC), MDA’s national network of support, and PVA’s programs supporting veterans and individuals with spinal cord injury and disease.
- Shared Advocacy Priorities & Grassroots Advocacy Toolkit: Learn about shared disability policy priorities across all three organizations and explore a step-by-step guide on how anyone can be an advocate. This session includes practical tips for sharing your story, building relationships with elected officials, and taking action at the federal level.
- Advocacy Programs and Opportunities: Gain valuable insight into the advocacy programs and engagement opportunities offered by the Reeve Foundation, MDA, and PVA, and learn how to stay involved beyond the training.
