Jesse C.
Age: 58
Location: Washington
Injury or relation:
Motor vehicle accident, spinal cord injury, T4, T5, T6, T7 for 42 years.
Hobbies/Interests:
I love my dogs. My old man Carter (shih tzu, 14yo) and our new puppy Marcel, who is 9 months (Standard Poodle).
I like to go out in our travel trailer, which has a lift now. No more building a portable ramp that we did for a long time. I am retired now, did the IT Manager/Network director thing for 33 plus years. Now I try to keep up with when Wife is working, our house chores, RV and truck maintenance and miscellaneous yard stuff our lawn crew does not do. I play a little billiards now and then. Back in the day, I was an avid water sit skier, but shoulder and back stuff put that to rest.
Why did you become a peer mentor?
When I retired, I had told the universe that I wanted to help people more and be more involved with our local Here and Now Group for people with disabilities and this led to becoming involved in this foundation. I have many years under my belt as a para, been through a gamut of procedures and surgeries etc, that I feel makes me help understand what many may be going through.
