Why did you become a peer mentor?
I became a peer mentor because I am passionate about helping people, particularly those with disabilities and mental health struggles. I work with youth and adults with various developmental disabilities and people who have mental health challenges. I use a variety of tools to help people reach their fullest potential, including motivational coaching, problem solving, collaboration, active listening, and Emotional Support. I use an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device, so I work best via text, email, and video chat. Although I have lived experience with cerebral palsy, I am open to working with peers of any diagnosis.
