Why did you become a peer mentor?
This journey is considerably hard, and I think I’ve navigated it well. I have found a way to continue loving life even though I am still on a ventilator and cannot move anything below my shoulders (as Christopher Reeve was). So, if my words, knowledge, or simply friendship can help improve the life of someone in need, even in a small way, I am always available. Non-judgmental listening, sharing insights learned and adapted over the years allows me to support others in coping with the physical, psychological, emotional, and bureaucratic challenges of this injury. I hope to inspire the resiliency and strength to carry us into the brilliant future ahead.
